TABB: What's In It For You?
You're busy. TABB is obviously shorthand for something. You need such shortcuts! But what does TABB really stand for-and what can it do for you? Let's make an assumption: You want the HVAC systems you design, build, and operate to meet the highest standards. That goes for retrofits, too. New or retrofit, you want the HVAC system to work with the greatest efficiency and effectiveness possible. And: This applies to you and your clients (if you are an independent engineer) or to you and your employer (if you work inside a company). You want to make sure that the built system matches the design; you want to show that it works. That's where TABB comes in. The Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau's (TABB) certification program was established by SMACNA, a contractors' association, and SMWIA, the industry's worker organization. TABB has been created to certify supervisors and contractors engaged in testing, adjusting, and balancing of building environmental systems. Note: Along with SMACNA and SMWIA members, TABB encompasses professional HVAC engineers who are members of ASHRAE. Peace of Mind
