Equal Air Balancing Co., Inc. of Orange County, California has utilized the Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau (TABB) very successfully. Currently, the company employs two TABB-recognized Certified Technicians, one TABB Certified Supervisor, and is also a TABB Certified Contractor.

Appointed by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) to the TABB Council Steering Committee, Jim Rosier has been an active supporter of TABB since its inception in 2000. He is also an ex-officio member of TABB's International Certification Board.

Before establishing Equal Air Balance Co. Inc., Rosier spent 25 years as a sheet metal worker at Local Union 108. For many years Rosier worked for Reno Air Conditioning Company, first as an apprentice and finally as a project manager. Rosier began his career in air balance at Hydro Aire Testing where he gained critical knowledge to the success of his own company.

Rosier says one important advantage TABB has provided his company is peace of mind. Projects that may have hit snags in the past are completed thoroughly and on-time. Clients call back to praise his company's technicians and professionalism Ð not to complain or fix oversights.

"Having technicians with the training and ability to resolve problems is a great advantage," Rosier said. "A company is only as good as the people in the field, and that is why this certification is a great help."

One of those field technicians is Ken Carreon. Carreon has worked for Equal Air Balance Co., Inc. for five years and became a certified technician more than two years ago. His certification is recognized by TABB. Carreon says that TABB training specifically has helped improve communication with engineers.

"You learn how to 'talk the talk' and become more efficient. A qualified technician saves the company money," he said.

Rosier points to the improved and enhanced marketability of Equal Air Balance Co., Inc. now that it carries the TABB Certification. He says TABB's third-party certification lets his clients know they are getting top of the line talent Ð a message that any in-house certification cannot communicate as effectively.
