TABB SUPERVISOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

Mary Coffey: Modern Controls TABB Certified Supervisor
Mary Coffey: Modern Controls TABB Certified Supervisor

As a 20-year veteran of the sheet metal industry and a member of SMWIA's Local 19 in Philadelphia, Mary Coffey became one of the first to be certified as a TABB Certified Supervisor. Receiving her TABB Supervisor Certification in August of 2001, Coffey is leading the charge for others to pursue TABB Certification. Presently employed by Modern Controls in New Castle, Delaware as a TABB Certified Supervisor, she is a true advocate for TABB Certification. Ms. Coffey feels certification provides credibility to the technician or supervisor, and more importantly, it promotes the sheet metal industry as a whole. "Many people have no idea what a sheet metal worker does. TABB assists in letting others know the entire scope and capabilities of sheet metal workers," stated Coffey.

As more and more technicians received recognition from TABB for their certification, it became clear a Certified TABB Supervisor program was needed. "Under the TABB logo, we have a unique testing, adjusting and balancing program with the most educated, experienced technicians, supervisors and contractors in the industry," explains Jack Webster, Director of Certification. "I am proud to be at the helm of the best of the best."

"The TABB Supervisor Certification program provides TABB technicians an additional resource if they need any technical advice or recommendations," says Coffey. "TABB recognition also provides the contractors additional reasons to have confidence in their employees." Ms. Coffey encourages all technicians to apply for recognition by TABB. She is also an instructor for both the Basic and Advanced levels of the TABB Pilot Program.

To qualify for TABB Supervisor Certification, applicants must be employed by a contractor who is currently TABB Certified or is qualified to be TABB Certified and meet one of the following criteria:
