NEMI and NEMIC professionals continue to serve appointments on technical committees and task forces, utilizing their expertise to advance policy and influence decisions on key issues. Technical committees serve as the principle consensus bodies responsible for the development and revision of ASHRAE, NFPA, UMC and other codes and standards. By becoming a member of a technical committee, you can influence the codes and standards that govern the HVAC industry, allowing us to stay at the forefront.
In addition, many technical committee meetings are open to the public. For example, the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), widely known as a codes and standards organization — 300 codes and standards are designed to minimize the risk and effects of fire by establishing criteria for building, processing, design, service and installation around the world — allows guests to attend.
